Description
Julien's Auctions is proud to present our "Legendary Women of Hollywood" auction taking place in Beverly Hills and live online at Julien's Live on Friday, November 1st.
Leading this special popular culture event is our "Property From The Life And Career Of Marilyn Monroe" session showcasing some of the star's film costumes and clothing worn in her most iconic roles and dazzling, star-making moments. The top highlights of the auction event will be three costumes worn in the Hollywood screen legend's biggest films – Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, There's No Business Like Show Business, and River of No Return – as well as her signature style black cocktail dress likely worn to the 1958 press conference for her blockbuster film, Some Like It Hot. This glamourous collection of over 200 items also includes a wide array of artifacts from her personal life and will all be sold at no reserve.
Co-featured is our Property From The Life And Career Of Mae West auction celebrating the trailblazing career and style of the 1930s American actress, singer, playwright, screenwriter, comedian, and sex symbol. The star who coined legendary one liners such as, "When I'm good, I'm very good, but when I'm bad, I'm better," will showcase a dazzling collection of over 200 items including ornate headdresses, tiaras, jewelry, wigs, film and stage worn bodiced gowns and more.
“The Personal Collection of Lucille Ball” offers a variety possessions preserved by her niece, Pamela Ball-Von Pinnon, including oil paintings, decorative arts, housewares, clothing, gloves, jewelry and more. Pamela’s dad was Fred Ball, Lucy’s brother, and a longtime executive at DesiLu Productions. The Ball Family was small and close knit, and Pam had a loving and fun relationship with her famous aunt from childhood until Lucy passed away in 1989. When Pam became an adult in the early 1960s, it became a habit of Lucy’s to send her niece hand-me-downs that she thought the young woman could use or would need in her own home. Pam is now ready to share these dozens of household pieces that her beloved aunt once owned with Lucy’s fans.
The auction will also include an extravaganza of memorabilia and rarities from the Golden Age of Hollywood to today’s modern legends, as well as a selection of never-before-seen auction firsts.
Highlights include an original Wayland Flowers "Madame" puppet, Erté costumes and gowns from Stardust, royal wedding cake from Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, an Ann-Margret magazine worn bracelet, a Dame Olivia De Havilland worn Yves Saint Laurent Christian Dior dress, a Barbara Streisand Golden Globe preview award, as well as items related to Liza Minnelli, Isabella Blow, Shirley MacLaine, Sharon Stone, Joan Collins, Amy Poehler, Lucy Liu, Halle Barry, Patricia Neal, Elizabeth Taylor, and more.
If you can't make it out to Beverly Hills to bid in person, you can still watch all the action as well as bid online at julienslive.com!
